Inclusion: Getting Real About Diversity
Diversity training usually assists people to understand the consequences of misunderstanding cultural difference on a macro level. Topics about cultural differences, prejudice and stereotyping give an overview and awareness of important and relevant macro issues. Very often however, people do not have the requisite level of emotional sophistication and self-awareness to be able to appreciate and overcome the unconscious subtle practices of body language, speech and non-verbal behaviour that can be dehumanising and create invisible but often impenetrable barriers to inclusion.
This workshop will give an in-depth nuanced and practical understand of power issues, subtle dehumanising and exclusionary practices based on their own experience and case study material.
Participants will also be given the opportunity to practice confronting these issues in ways that are respectful and compassionate and that do not result in replicating the very same power dynamics that they are trying to address.
The duration of the workshop is two days.
The maximum number of participants per workshop is 8.
